About our company

OUR STORY

AB2E is a French family independent limited liability company which was founded in April 2006, in Ambérieux d’Azergues (near Lyon). 

At begining, AB2E was created to offering innovative products & solutions for EMC/EMC shielding & Heat Dissipation in all sectors of activity where electronics are to be protected and/or cooled.

We are today in all domains of military, avionics, space, medical, special automotive market, telecommunications (Wifi/Bluetooth…IOT), renewable energies, battery, chargers, home automation and more generally in all industries from 4.0 to 5G.

Our turnover is around 75% in France and 25% to export. Last years, our growth has led us to work more on exports across all continents, notably with India.

Our company have 20 years old. She’s now established and recognized as an expert in Hyper-Frequency Shielding (RFI) solutions as well as those of Thermal Management. Last years, we have also developed a third range of products that is successfully entering for European market, in air filtration for electronic and electrical equipment. UL 94 HF-1 filter media (with fire retardance) mainly intended for export to our customers who sell to USA or/and for special applications.

Composed of a team with 40 years of experience in these industrial fields,

available to the market its skills in electromagnetic compatibility & thermal management especially in the design of customized solutions.

Our manufacturing products are made up of 80% of "customs" products.

Our products range are of high quality, efficient & reliable, with quality monitoring and traceability from the raw material used to the development of the delivered custom product. Traceability is an integral part of our internal quality process although we are not currently ISO at this moment. We plan to move to ISO soon. Have all our suppliers be ISO 9001.

Ours 2 basics specialties are always in constant evolution driven by the miniaturization of electronic components.

Indeed, electronic devices are becoming smallers and smallers and therefore concentrate more and more components that radiate electromagnetic waves. In parallel, their powers increase and they "heat up" more and more. This application field in heat dissipation has been undergoing major changes in recent years. New products are now possible that did not exist before. Our Engineering department team is therefore in perpetual search for exclusive high-tech solutions to propose high performances in news innovations solutions.Notre équipe de R&D/BE est donc en perpétuelle recherche de solutions exclusives de haute technologie pour proposer de nouvelles solutions innovantes.

Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC Shielding)

Today electronics are everywhere. All our devices are confronted with electromagnetic fields, it is at this moment that EMC comes into play. Today’s electronic circuits & boards “swim in a sea of electromagnetic energy” of very variable intensities and frequencies.

Consequently, electromagnetic interference and radio frequency (RFI) are grouped under the heading of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC/EMI). These are ubiquitous and related phenomena that affect the performance of our electronic devices. The EMC intervenes by different processes in order to stop this propagation of electromagnetic waves.

What is EMI:

Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) means a signal or emission of magnetic and/or electric fields that affects the functionality of various devices.

It is the ability of an electrical or electronic device or system to function satisfactorily in its environment. Thus it must not produce disturbing electromagnetic disturbances for the neighboring devices. It must also not be disturbed by other electrical or electronic equipment surrounding it.

‘EMI’ gaskets/honeycombs/board level shields case /windows shielding…and more generally all EMI materials and/or shielding cover will prevent electromagnetic waves from entering or exiting the electronic equipment to be protected.

As a simple example:

The glass of your microwave is impregnated with an EMC film “the small screen” which protects you from its electromagnetic radiation when it heats your food at its operating frequency. The housing of the microwave being metallic, it is connected to the ground (via the electrical outlet) allowing then to evacuate the waves generated internally and to discharge them to the ground. The grid prevents it from causing waves to propagate by direct radiation towards you (electric field in the case of the μ-wave).

Thermal Management & Power Dissipation

Heat transfer is one of the modes of internal energy exchange between two systems. We distinguish three types of thermal transfer, which can coexist: conduction, due to the gradual diffusion of thermal agitation in matter, the convection which is the thermal transfer that accompanies macroscopic movements of matter and the radiation which corresponds to it at the propagation of photons. We are suppliers of in high-performance thermal interface materials (TIM). More effective heat transfer helps a new product achieve faster regulatory compliance.

What is heat dissipation:

It is the thermal energy (or heat dissipation) emitted by an electrical or electronic device or a component with high energy and which tends to dissipate in the near space that surrounds it. Generally, this heat evacuation is done either by natural convection through ambient air which will warm up naturally and evacuate alone or by forced convection (ventilation) via a thermal transfer material of the type: Mattress / Interface / Films / Pads / Thermal Cushions (in English Gap Pad, Gap Filler, Sil Pad, Heat-Sinks, Heat Pipes, Cold Plates, Vapors Chambers….) which will allow to direct the heat towards the place where one wants to evacuate it, therefore towards a colder source.

As a simple example:

The hot air generated by your laptop can then be dissipated naturally or forced (with a heatsink). The components (the central chip) will be equipped with a thermal insulator (TIM). This will, for example, prevent the computer from overheating.
